Music & Theatre

LAURENCE PAYNE studied trombone and piano at the Royal Academy of Music.

Laurence's theatrical career started at the Kenneth More Theatre, Ilford, where he was Musical Director for 19 consecutive Pantomime seasons. For many years he was resident Musical Director and arranger at London's Brick Lane Music Hall. He has travelled all over Britain with shows ranging from Music Hall and Rock n' Roll to the very English "Salad Days", and as far afield as Hong Kong - where he treasures the memory of a thousand Chinese voices responding "Ah so!" to Dorothy's announcement that she wasn't in Kansas any more!

Recent reports of his death were greatly exaggerated...see here.

The percussionist who appears in several pictures on this site is the excellent Bobby Cook. He makes it all possible. And his Mum bakes very good cakes.
Me and Lola did this for a project round the time of the Olympics where this bloke went on the tube and wrote a song... (we did the music)
