The show is the latest rebirth of the one-man show Roy Hudd OBE first toured so successfully in the 90’s …. and it has played most years ever since. It’s a solo performance (with a pianist) where Roy tells the stories, the jokes and monologues and sings the songs and bedazzles the audience with the secrets and scandals of the great stars of the music hall. He covers the period 1750 (pre-music hall) up to the 1960’s, and all stops between.

This is Roy’s fifty-sixth year in show business and many of the stories he tells are direct from the mouths of music hall stars he worked with in his early days: Max Miller, G.H. Elliott, Hetty King, Randolph Sutton etc.

His cameo appearances in the show, as all sorts of stars from Bud Flanagan, Billy Bennett and Albert Chevalier to Max Miller and Robb Wilton, demonstrate his amazing versatility and uncanny ability to become, “before your very eyes” the great performers themselves.

His recent forays into TV drama have shown this side of his talent to great effect: “Call the Midwife, “Holby City,” “Midsummer Murders.”, “Benidorm” etc.

In a career that has encompassed concert party, variety, farce - from Cooney via Shakespeare to Stoppard - musicals, (“Oliver!”, as the infamous Fagin, and his Olivier Award winning performance as Bud Flanagan in “Underneath the Arches”. Pantomime, radio (26 years on Radio2 with “The News Huddlines”) and TV soaps including “Coronation Street”.

He is, probably, our greatest expert on music hall, its history and its songs. He is the President of The British Music Hall Society and is the first port of call for anyone researching the subject.

His main reason for taking “Roy Hudd’s Very Own Music Hall” back on the road is public demand, the joy of being in front of a live audience and his love of great performers and, especially, great songs.
